About David:
Think of a prism-how it reveals different colors and shapes as it turns in the light. This multi-faceted glass object mirrors human life in many ways, and certainly reflects the life of David Graeber. A flameworker based in Southern New Jersey, Graeber specializes in floral paperweights, drawing inspiration from the people, experiences, and opportunities that have shaped-and continue to shape-his work.

Today, in addition to creating his own floral-themed paperweights, Graeber teaches flameworking at the Paul J. Stankard Studio and Lab at Salem Community College, located in Carney's Point, Salem County, New Jersey. He considers it a great honor to carry forward the artistic vision and legacy of Paul J. Stankard, the internationally acclaimed glass artist who first took Graeber under his wing as an assistant in 1989. In 2009, Graeber established his own studio in Westmont, Camden County, New Jersey.

Much of his work reflects the natural beauty and ecological richness of New Jersey's million-acre Pinelands National Reserve. His creations are inspired by delicate cranberry blossoms, elegant Moccasin orchids, vast blueberry fields, and the honey bees that pollinate them.

In the spirit of Paul Stankard's tradition, Graeber is committed to giving back to the community. He has contributed his time and talents to organizations such as Daniel's Den Community Center in Vineland, First Love Unbroken in Egg Harbor, and Perkins Center for the Arts in Collingswood. Over the past year, he has taught classes in bead making, marbles, and glass casting.
