On October 29th, the American Red Cross Angels of Tampa Bay will host our 44th Silver Coffee Fundraiser in support of the Services to the Armed Forces (SAF) Program. Help us continue our legacy of support by becoming a sponsor.
A bit of local history: the American Red Cross story in Tampa Bay reaches back to the Spanish-American War of 1898, when Clara Barton and Red Cross nurses came to the area to support U.S. troops preparing for deployment to Cuba. Red Cross nurses cared for sick and injured service members in Tampa, including soldiers suffering from typhoid, before joining Barton's humanitarian efforts in Cuba. Their service established an enduring connection between the Red Cross, Tampa Bay and the U.S. military - a relationship that would continue for generations.

Deployment Respite Centers:
For nearly 140 years, Red Cross teams have supported every major deployment and mobilization of the U.S. military. One of the many programs provided by the Red Cross are Respite Centers where service members can step away from the intensity of their units and decompress.

The Red Cross provides service members and families with essential programs, such as CPR/AED training, first aid instruction and water safety. Patient Care and Comfort:
The Red Cross provides hospitalized military members a variety of services to make their hospital stays more comfortable: including Comfort Kits of personal hygiene items, Respite Care Centers (run by volunteers) that provide comfort items such as coffee, snacks and books, and the Animal Visitation Program which uses certified therapy dogs to provide social interaction and comfort.
