Meet Samson

For 72 days, Samson Boggs called Le Bonheur's Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit (NICU) home. Born nine weeks prematurely with a medical condition that affected his ability to urinate, Samson also needed help breathing on his own and was placed on a ventilator.
During his stay at Le Bonheur, Samson was under the care of several different specialists while his parents, Alex and Jenay, received the resources they needed to help their son thrive.
The Boggs family experienced family-centered care at Le Bonheur. Samson's medical team included his parents in the process, and the Child Life program helped Samson's three older siblings prepare for meeting and loving their little brother.
When it was time for Samson to go home for the first time, the NICU team helped ensure the Boggs family were comfortable administering the oxygen Samson needed and felt prepared to care for him at home.
"It made a world of difference at Le Bonheur to have the support team we did," Jenay said. "You could feel that they genuinely cared."
Samson celebrated his first birthday in May and returns every three months to Le Bonheur for check-ups with nephrology and urology specialists.
