ABOUT THE ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL

Founded in 2009 in Hempstead, New York, The Academy Charter School has grown into a high-performing K-12 network with campuses in Hempstead, Wyandanch, and Uniondale - serving as hubs for academic success and social development. Our schools serve grades K-12 with an enrollment of 1,895 students. We have a student-to-teacher ratio of 16: 1 and a graduation rate between 90-94%. according to the National Center for Education Statistics and the NY Department of Education, our schools rank in the top 30% overall in testing, with math proficiency at 58% (top 50%), reading proficiency at 59% (top 30%), and science proficiency at 76% (bottom 50%). and proficiency rates of 58% in math and 59% in reading - both above state averages. Beyond strong academics, The Academy fosters development of socially conscious leaders through service learning and robust Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs. Our students earn traditional academic as well as industry-recognized credentials in healthcare, business, and technology, preparing them for in-demand careers. In honor of its 15th anniversary, The Academy has launched a capital project to build new facilities that expand hands-on learning and CTE offerings. This initiative will increase access to a wider range of trades, enhance workforce readiness, and create opportunities for students to earn while they learn, making college more affordable for those from lower-income backgrounds.
