This one-of-a-kind hollow form bowl was lathe turned by hand from an 18" diameter native Wild Black Cherry (Prunus serotina) by wood artist Roy Tedesco. It measures 8 1/2" tall by 13 1/2" in width. The lighter colored portion is the sap wood on the outer perimeter of the tree while the darker color is the heartwood center.

The hollow form can be simply displayed as an art object or used as a serving bowl. It has a food safe finish and should be cleaned after use with only a damp towel. It should not be used for liquid or placed in the dishwasher. Over time, the finish will develop a pleasant patina and lose its sheen, but is easily refreshed with mineral oil. Properly cared for wooden bowls have lasted hundreds of years.

Roy Tedesco is a wood artist who lives and creates beautiful turned items, furniture, and other wood art in Kennett Square, PA. He has been turning for over 30 years and creating art with wood since he was 2 years old, when he decided his parents' coffee table wasn't quite right and needed to be 'fixed'. A piece of wood speaks to him, and he can see what the wood wants to be in its most perfect form.
