American Cancer Society's Mission:

The mission of the American Cancer Society is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer

Road To Recovery

The American Cancer Society Road To Recovery program provides people with cancer free rides to medical appointments and treatment.

Lack of transportation can be one of the greatest barriers to receiving timely treatment and quality cancer care.

The Road To Recovery program removes barriers to cancer treatment by providing people facing cancer with transportation to treatment and medical appointments.*

While the program is provided at no cost to people facing cancer, it does require funding to support technology solutions and other program management costs.

In 2025, we:

  • Provided transportation, helping patients overcome barriers to care
including: 840 rides to and from treatment through Road To Recovery in Orange County, alone.
  • Provided $473,500 in transportation grants to healthcare systems across California
  • Reimbursed 21,87 rides for California residents impacted by cancer, who needed transportation.

Closing the Gap:

In 2025, in Orange County, we fulfilled 55.5% of Road to Recovery ride requests. Every missed ride represents a missed opportunity for timely treatment. With your support, we can help ensure no one has to miss a vital appointment due to lack of transportation.
