2026 Honorees: Coach Katelyne & The Wildcats

This year, we are proud to honor the Manhattan Wildcats Basketball Team and NYC Leadership Council member Coach Katelyne Maroney for their outstanding leadership, dedication, and success. Through grit, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, the Wildcats have become one of Special Olympics New York's premier community basketball teams. After winning back-to-back State Games championships, they proudly represented New York at the Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota this past June, where they brought home the Gold Medal. We are thrilled to honor the Wildcats and celebrate their incredible achievement at the 20th Anniversary Summer Social!

Special Olympics New York provides year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities at no cost to athletes, their families, or caregivers. We serve more than 51,000 athletes across the state, and about 30,000 in NYC alone! Teams like the Wildcats and coaches like Katelyn exemplify the impact of our mission, helping athletes build confidence, develop leadership skills, and experience the power of inclusion both on and off the court.
