Welcome to Waukaru!

Thank you for reviewing The Gathering 2026 offering. Waukaru's goal is to help you succeed in the beef industry by providing genetics and practical solutions to improve your profitability. We made this group of bulls better, more predictable, and more suited for the modern beef industry.

This has been a great market for the cow calf sector. Our portion of this global industry has more leverage in the marketplace than ever before. The cow calf sector will continue to have the upper hand for more than the next twenty-four months as the national cowherd slowly starts to rebuild inventory.

Our industry has experienced this market demand for several reasons; the main driver is the dramatic increase in consumer demand. CattleFax calculates consumer beef demand at a 40-year high. The populus loves beef and are more willing than ever to spend their hard earned dollars on beef.

The National Beef Quality Audit identified problem areas and as an industry we have worked to correct them. In 2000, 55% of all slaughter cattle could grade low choice; in 2025, 85% of all slaughter cattle reached the low choice grade or higher. In 2025 more cattle were harvested grading prime than select. Tools and technology have made a higher quality product finding increased consumer demand.

It takes fewer 600-pound steers than ever to offset the cost of a new bull. Randy Blach, CEO of CattleFax, predicts we'll experience the slowest rebuild of the national cowherd ever, so the cow-calf sector will stay in the driver's seat for more years than any prior rebuild. Today's modern Waukaru bull is better suited to this industry than before. The daughters of your next herdsire will be in the prime of their productive life at the next predicted valley in our cyclical market; these will be the cows you will lean on to get to the next rally. These females will pay the largest portion of expenses in the operation. Now is the time to add better bulls that fit into your respective system to prepare for the market unknowns coming six to eight years in the future.

In these pages you find our largest group of herd building sires ever offered. There are more choices in every category: more bulls to breed heifers, more choices to generate replacement females, more options to add ribeye and marbling. These are bulls to make a significant impact in all these areas.

As in the past, the bulls are not highly fit and pampered. They are developed in an open area with access to natural windbreaks and protection. The cowherd is expected to utilize low quality forages and crop residues without unnecessary inputs and management. It is demanded that the cattle here work for their spot, and we do not want to add unnecessary expense to these genetic investments.

We are updating our website with ultrasound information, videos and the listing of the replacement females. For bidding we use the SmartAuctions platform; if you prefer bidding is also available directly through Waukaru.
We are humbled that you take time to investigate genetics at Waukaru. Feel free to reach out anytime with questions or to schedule a visit. Contact Toby Jordan at 219.819.4603 or [email protected]
