Join Perfect Earth Project for a Landscape Therapy Workshop with landscape architect Stacy Marshall Paetzel, Peconic Baykeeper Pete Topping, senior writer at The East Hampton Star Chris Gangemi, and Perfect Earth founder Edwina von Gal to learn how to make your property healthy, safe, and beautifully sustainable and to share your joys and challenges with your neighbors. Chris Gangemi is a senior writer at The East Hampton Star. 

Stacy Paetzel

Stacy Marshall Paetzel, RLA founded her North Fork-based firm Marshall Paetzel Landscape Architecture in 2004. She serves on the board of the New York State Board for Landscape Architecture, is a trustee of the Landcraft Garden Foundation, and was formerly co-chair of the Parrish Art Museum's Landscape Pleasures. Growing up on a farm  surrounded by open meadows and mountains inspired Stacy's love of landscapes that have a sense of place beyond the property line. She honed her skills at a land planning and conservation firm in East Hampton, where she learned to enjoy the challenge of designing around some of the country's most stringent environmental regulations and discovered her love of incorporating native plants into her designs. She enjoys finding new and creative ways to incorporate habitat for birds, pollinators, and beneficial insects-layering native plantings that offer food, shelter, and nesting sites throughout the seasons.

Pete Topping

Pete Topping is the Baykeeper and Executive Director of Peconic Baykeeper, a Hampton Bays-based environmental nonprofit dedicated to the protection and restoration of Long Island's Peconic and Eastern South Shore Bays. Pete grew up just a short walk to Little Peconic Bay, where the brown tide algal blooms he witnessed as a child led him on a path in marine conservation and education. Pete holds a degree in Marine Science Biology from Long Island University's Southampton College and an MA in Teaching Biology from Stony Brook University. He has worked as an environmental educator in multiple states and as a Bay Management Specialist with Town East Hampton, aiding in the cultivation and restoration of millions of shellfish into the East End's waters each year. Pete's current role as Baykeeper is a culmination of this journey and his life's mission to protect and restore our aquatic resources.

Edwina von Gal 

A leading voice in sustainable gardening and landscape design, Edwina von Gal founded Perfect Earth Project to promote nature-based, toxic-free land care. As principal of her eponymous landscape design firm since 1984, Edwina created landscapes with a focus on simplicity, sustainability, and beauty for private and public clients around the world. Her work has been published widely, including in The New York Times, Vogue, and Architectural Digest, and the award-winning book Fresh Cuts. She has served on boards and committees for a number of horticultural organizations and currently serves on the board of What Is Missing, Maya Lin's multifaceted media artwork about the loss of biodiversity, Longue Vue's National Council, and is a member of the Native Plant Trust's Council. Her awards include the LongHouse Visionary Award from LongHouse, the New York School of Interior Design's Green Design Award, the Isamu Noguchi Award, and Guild Hall's Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award for the Visual Arts.
