A Legacy of Hope

Join us as we recognize George Nashak's nine years of extraordinary leadership and dedicated service to Care For the Homeless and those experiencing homelessness in New York City.

During his incredible tenure, George helped guide CFH through a period of remarkable growth, expanding the number of patients we serve from 7,500 to more than 12,000 annually, increasing our health care visits to nearly 44,000 each year, and growing our residential service programs from one to six shelters, increasing our capacity from 200 to 870 shelter and Safe Haven beds, providing New York City's most vulnerable community a safe place to stay and a trusted partner in moving from crisis to stability.

George's legacy has been defined by a deep commitment of treating housing and healthcare as a fundamental human right, impacting thousands of lives each year. Join us as we recognize him, his steadfast dedication to ending episodes of homelessness, and over 30 years of service to those in need.

OUR MORNING PROGRAM

8:00 AM to 9:00 AM: Registration and Networking

Join us before the beginning of our program for coffee, morning bites and networking with Care For the Homeless leadership, Board of Directors and supporters. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with colleagues, prospective and current business associates, and to offer George best wishes.

9:00 AM to 10:30 AM: Breakfast and Program

• Enjoy a chef-inspired plated breakfast, accompanied by an assortment of savory and sweet bites, all prepared by one of New York City's most respected caterers, Great Performances. 
  
• Our morning will include a dedicated recognition of George's extraordinary commitment to serving those in need, followed by special guest speakers and special performances.
• We will also recognize individuals who have inspired others to serve and recognize excellence in volunteerism and philanthropy.
• Our morning will conclude with a special reading from one with lived experience and a beneficiary of George's dedication to ending episodes of homelessness.

Meet our Legacy of Hope Master of Ceremonies

Adriana Trigiani is the New York Times bestselling author of twenty-one books of fiction and nonfiction, including The View from Lake Como, The Good Left Undone, The Shoemaker's Wife and Lucia, Lucia. Her work has been published in thirty-eight languages around the world.

An award-winning playwright, television writer/producer, and filmmaker, Trigiani wrote and directed the major motion picture of her debut novel, Big Stone Gap, adapted her novel, Very Valentine, for television, and directed the award-winning documentary, Queens of the Big Time. Adriana hosts the hit podcast, You Are What You Read, where she interviews authors and luminaries about the books that built their souls. In 2023, Adriana was named Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia by President Sergio Mattarella of Italy, and in 2024, the Library of Virginia awarded her the Patron of Letters degree, their highest honor. She also holds honorary degrees from Saint Mary's College and the University of New Haven. Adriana is co-founder of the Origin Project, a year-round, in-school writing program that has served over 50,000 students since its inception in 2014. Trigiani is honored to serve on the New York State Council on the Arts. She lives in Greenwich Village with her family.
