DAWS Signature Fundraiser

Join us for the 2026 DAWS Making a Difference Signature Gala Fundraiser!

Each year, our Gala brings together animal lovers and advocates to support our mission of responsible pet guardianship and the humane treatment of animals. Your generosity makes it possible for us to provide safe shelter, care, and love to homeless pets in need.

Our goal for this year's event is to raise $210,000 to support the animals in our care. Join us on Thursday, October 8th at the Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury, CT for an inspiring evening featuring exciting auctions, delicious food, music and, of course, a warm welcome from a few of our furry friends.

• Dr. Chris Elson (Recipient of the Dr. Cary Brenner Legacy Award)

Dr. Chris Elson is a full-time veterinarian at Mill Plain Veterinary Clinic and has been caring for the animals at DAWS since December 2025. Known for his expertise, compassion, and dedication to every patient, Dr. Elson brings exceptional veterinary care to shelter animals as they heal and prepare for their forever homes. His commitment to animal welfare and the DAWS mission makes him a fitting recipient of the Dr. Cary Brenner Legacy Award.

• Bethel Veterinary Hospital (Recipient of the Dr. Cary Brenner Legacy Award)

Led by Dr. James McNamara, Bethel Veterinary Hospital has been providing compassionate, high-quality veterinary care to the community for decades. Since partnering with DAWS in 2025, the hospital has played a vital role in treating homeless dogs and cats, helping countless animals receive the medical care they need before finding loving homes. Their partnership and commitment to animal welfare embody the spirit of the Dr. Cary Brenner Legacy Award.

• Kaitlyn A. Furrer (Recipient of the Heart of DAWS Award)

Kate's dedication to DAWS has touched nearly every aspect of our organization. As a former Board member, past Vice President, founder and chair of the Putt FORE Paws - Joyce Allen Memorial Golf Tournament, foster, volunteer, legal advisor, and advocate, she has helped grow our mission and inspire countless supporters. Kate's leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment truly represent the heart of DAWS. She proudly accepts this award in honor of her beloved cat, Mitty, and the many cats and kittens who have changed her life.
