2026 Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee
STEVE DONOHUE '74
Medical Director, New York Yankees
We are thrilled to honor Steve Donohue, a distinguished alumnus of Cardinal Spellman High School, Class of 1974, at this year's Golf Outing & Hall of Fame Dinner.
Steve Donohue '74 has dedicated his career to keeping athletes at their best, serving an incredible 47 consecutive seasons with the New York Yankees organization, currently as Medical Director.
Beginning as an athletic trainer in the Yankees' minor league system, Steve's expertise and commitment led him to 26 years as the Assistant Athletic Trainer (1986-2011) and eight seasons as the Head Athletic Trainer (2012-2019) under Gene Monahan, during which time he shared MLB's "Athletic Training Staff of the Year" honors in 1990 and 2010. In 2018, he was named the winner of the "Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award" by the National Athletic Trainers Association. In 2020, his contributions were recognized with an induction into the New York State Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame, cementing his place among the best in the field.
A proud graduate of the University of Louisville, Steve attributes much of his success to the foundation built at Cardinal Spellman High School, where he spent four memorable years. Today, his legacy extends beyond the ballpark. Along with his wife, Paula, and two daughters, Shannon and Margaret, Steve continues to inspire future generations to pursue excellence, dedication, and passion in their chosen fields.
We are incredibly proud to call Steve Donohue one of our own, and we are grateful for his continued dedication to Cardinal Spellman High School. Please join us at the golf dinner as we induct Steve into the Athletics Hall of Fame!
