Celebrating 30 Years of the KNBA Alaska Native Art Auction

For 30 years, the Alaska Native Art Auction has brought the community together to celebrate Indigenous artists, culture, and the voices that carry our stories forward. In 2026, this milestone year becomes something more. We are honored to bring back a powerful celebration of culture, creativity, and community-including the return of the Alaska Native Art Auction Indigenous Fashion Show, featuring designers Meka (Mary Kelsay), Garnet Ann (Bobbie Ann Meszaros), Jackie Qatalina Schaeffer, and Kivliq (Britt'Nee Kivliqtaruq Brower), with special performances by the Athabascan Fiddlers Association and hosted by MCs Jill Fratis and Antonia Gonzales.

This special runway experience highlights Indigenous designers, artists, and cultural expression, honoring the deep connections between art, regalia, contemporary fashion, and storytelling. It reflects how culture, creativity, and identity continue to be carried forward through Indigenous art and design. This 30th Anniversary Auction is not only a celebration-it is a moment to affirm the future of Native-led media, arts, and storytelling.

Fund-A-Need: Strengthening Indigenous-Led Public Media

Koahnic Broadcast Corporation's 30th Annual Alaska Native Art Auction will be held March 21, 2026 at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage. This milestone year also marks major anniversaries for KNBA 90.3 FM, Native America Calling, and Native Voice One, and comes at a pivotal time for Indigenous-led media. For the first time, federal support that helped sustain Indigenous public media has been rescinded, creating an immediate and ongoing funding gap.

Why Your Gift Matters

During the gala, we will make a special Fund-A-Need appeal in support of Koahnic 2030 - our multi-year initiative to strengthen and transform Indigenous-led public media at this critical moment.

Every Fund-A-Need contribution is your opportunity to make a direct investment in:

  • The future of Indigenous voices
  • Sustainable Indigenous journalism and storytelling
  • Access to Native news, culture, and music nationwide
  • Long-term resilience for community-centered media
  • Your tax-deductible gift supports a strong and sustainable future for Indigenous-led public media and helps ensure Native voices continue to be heard across generations.

Recognition & Impact

Fund-A-Need donors will be recognized:

  • From the stage during the event to inspire others to give
  • Online and on social media
  • On-air across Koahnic platforms
