"Summer Picnic"
$135If there were ever a painting that embodied the summer glow and buzz of a backyard, it would be this one.
Summer Picnic, an original plein air oil painting on Gessobord panel by Chincoteague Island artist Nancy Richards West, captures a delightful moment as a dragonfly enjoys its own little picnic atop a slice of watermelon. This cheerful piece will add a splash of warmth and color to any bookcase or accent wall.
Nancy captures wildlife across many species through mixed-media paintings, though birds remain her most frequent subjects. She attributes her "... ability to capture the 'spirit' of birds" to her training in portraiture: "Looking beyond the surface, studying my subjects in depth, taking cues from the environment, and setting the mood with lighting and color choices are aspects of my wildlife paintings that set them apart."
Dimensions: 8" x 10", unframed

The owl is painted and glazed with oxides, while the bottle is finished with three different glazes to create a richly varied surface. Fired in oxidation to cone 6, this unique piece is durable enough to be gently handled and hand washed.

Decorative Ceramic Plate
$50Showcasing the distinctive style of late artist Saul Kaplan, this decorative plate features more than calming colors and a cheerful flower. Kaplan studied at the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts in his twenties, where he deepened his dedication to art and developed a lifelong fascination with heads. Over the following decades, his minimalist portraits and ceramics explored themes of intimacy and connection through overlapping, interwoven lines.
The circular composition draws the eye inward, creating a sense of continuity until it settles on the contrasting flower cradled by two hands at the center. While the colors and forms appear simple, together they create a thoughtful, contemplative work.
This piece was purchased during an exhibition and sale of Kaplan's work at the Russell Museum in Waynesboro, Virginia, in the summer of 2025.
Dimensions: 11.5" diameter x 1.5"

Glaciers & Fireweed Brown Bear
