Known as the "20th-Century Audubon," John Ruthven earned international recognition for his scientifically informed wildlife art. In 2004, he became the first wildlife artist to receive the National Medal of Arts, the nation's highest honor for artistic achievement. Throughout his career, Ruthven also helped raise more than $20 million for nonprofit organizations through donations of his artwork.
