Barks and Books
Looking for a way to get your child to read more? We might have the answer. How about having your child read to our therapy dogs? This canine-assisted read aloud program is a class where children read aloud to a trained therapy dog. The dog is a patient listener who offers unconditional love and acceptance, allowing your child to practice reading aloud without fear or criticism.
Barks and Books will meet every Tuesday for 45 mins. We will start on Tuesday, April 7th and meet every Tuesday until June 2nd. Class will start at 3:30 pm and end at 4:15 pm. During that time, we will begin with a whole group read and then have the children find a spot in our Humane Education room and start reading to our therapy dogs. The last five minutes will be time to play with the kittens. We ask that the children be in K-5th grade.
The program is limited to 12 children, and we ask for a donation of $90.00 (9 sessions) to have your child participate.
