Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA), founded in Lake Forest 25 years ago, provides adaptive sports programming for individuals with physical or visual disabilities. The Timmy G Memorial Wheelchair Basketball Classic honors Timmy Gruensfelder, a long-time GLASA athlete who loved wheelchair basketball.
The 2026 Timmy G Memorial Wheelchair Basketball Classic will be held on Sunday, March 8 at 11 AM at Vernon Hills High School. The event will welcome athletes of all abilities to participate in a fun, inclusive 3 v. 3 tournament. We invite companies, families, friends and organizations to create a team of 3-5 players including non-disabled individuals to try the sport and enjoy time on the court together.
GLASA Athletes will be on hand to coach and support each team and help them learn the sport of wheelchair basketball. The day will kickoff with a demo featuring current and former GLASA wheelchair basketball athletes. Sport wheelchairs will be provided as requested for each team and we will ensure appropriate sizing before tournament play begins.
3 players per team will be on court at any time for mini games, leading up to the trophy presentation to close the event at 4 pm. Team Registration is a $150 donation to the GLASA mission with lunch provided to each athlete. Spectators are welcome to attend.
If you would like to support or sponsor and cannot attend, you are able to donate back your team for members of the GLASA Wheelchair Basketball community to participate on your behalf!
