Hi! My name is Alexa, and I recently graduated from Thomas Jefferson University's Accelerated Nursing Program. I'll also be starting my nursing career in the INICU at Jefferson, where I'm excited to build a strong foundation in critical care, teamwork, and patient advocacy. Prior to earning my BSN, I worked as a Behavioral Technician supporting children with autism and in Human Factors Research supporting projects for a Fortune 500 company after completing my bachelor's degree in Psychology. These experiences strengthened my passion for patient-centered care, communication, and evidence-based practice.
My personal connection to cancer began through supporting my Mommom and Poppop during their battles with colon and lung cancer. I was very close with both of them, and witnessing their strength, resilience, and joy throughout such difficult journeys deeply changed my perspective on the impact cancer has on patients and families. Seeing the compassion and support provided by their care teams inspired me to pursue oncology and become part of the fight against cancer as both a nurse and advocate.
While I'm excited to begin my career in critical care, my long-term goal is to combine clinical nursing, research, and innovation to help improve outcomes and experiences for oncology patients and their families. I'm excited to be part of the ACS GenNow Network, make meaningful connections, and work alongside others who are passionate about advocacy, community outreach, fundraising, and advancing cancer care.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of this community and appreciate any support toward helping patients and families affected by cancer.
