About: Chrysalis Center's Food Hub is a comprehensive, community-centered approach to addressing food insecurity and poverty by increasing access to fresh, nutritious food while building long-term self-sufficiency. Through innovative, hands-on programs - including Freshplace, an award-winning client-choice food pantry paired with case management; Urban Roots Hydroponics, which grows year-round, pesticide-free produce; the Homestead Farmers' Market, featuring culturally relevant, locally grown foods; Railway Gardens and the state's first edible Food Forest; and La Cocina Culinary Arts Training and Catering - Chrysalis Center not only meets the immediate need for food, but also tackles the root causes of hunger by creating pathways to health, education, and employment for individuals and families living in Hartford's food deserts.
