About the Event

For 45 years, Montgomery & Prince George's Hospice has been dedicated to gentling the journey for patients and families navigating serious illness, end-of-life care, and grief by providing compassionate care, comfort, and dignity when it matters most.

The Lighting the Way Gala marks the launch of our 45th Anniversary Celebration and honors the legacy of care made possible through the generosity of our community. As we celebrate the past and look toward the future, we remain committed to ensuring every patient and family receives compassionate, person-centered care-regardless of their ability to pay.

Yet many individuals throughout Montgomery and Prince George's Counties continue to face barriers to accessing hospice and palliative care. Financial hardship, transportation challenges, language and cultural differences, limited health literacy, and a lack of awareness often delay care until the final days of life.

Funds raised through Lighting the Way help remove these barriers by:

Expanding access to hospice and palliative care earlier in serious illness
Reducing health disparities across our diverse community
Providing compassionate care for uninsured and underinsured patients
Supporting family caregivers through life's most difficult moments
Ensuring every individual receives dignity, comfort, and expert care when they need it most

Together, we honor the past, celebrate the present, and light the way forward for every patient and family in our community.
