Paul Stankard and Lucio Bubacco
"The Poetry of Nature: Flowers & Figures"
Flameworking
May 26 - 30, 2026 (Tue. - Sat.)

Join internationally acclaimed glass artists Lucio Bubacco and Paul J. Stankard for an immersive five-day master workshop.

This rare opportunity brings together two masters of narrative glass to explore the expressive potential of flameworking. Through guided demonstrations, hands-on instruction, and individualized feedback, participants will investigate the creative possibilities of sculpting free-standing figures and intimate floral orbs in both borosilicate and soda lime glass. Rooted in observation, storytelling, and technical precision, this workshop invites artists to translate the poetry of the natural world into luminous form.

The week will include special guest artists as well as a field trip to Paul's personal studio. You do not want to miss this!

Open to all skill levels, from dedicated beginners to advanced practitioners - this class offers a dynamic environment for growth, experimentation, and refinement.

Schedule:
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM daily (Tuesday-Saturday)
Extended open studio: Tuesday-Friday, 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

All essential materials are included. Participants are encouraged to bring any specialty colors they wish to incorporate into their work.

Space is limited for this exceptional opportunity to learn directly from two of the field's most celebrated artists.

Lucio Bubacco has earned international respect for his sensuous works combining the anatomic perfection of Greek and Roman sculpture with the Byzantine gothic architecture of his native Venice. He focuses on large freestanding sculpture with incredible detail. He also combines large, cast glass forms with delicate flameworked figures to make scenes from mythology and express his fantasies.
"Bubacco's work combines virtuoso techniques and a theatrical narrative closely aligned to choreography. It is theatrical and lighthearted withal the magic of ballet or musical theater." (Author Dan Klein, Artists in Glass)
