Monroe is a bright, joyful little girl who brings light, laughter, and love to everyone she meets. She loves dancing, building with Magna-Tiles, watching Cocomelon, and anything that involves snacks and food. She is so excited to walk in the fashion show and share this special moment with her friends.
This is Monroe's first year at Easterseals, and it has been a beautiful and life-changing experience for our family. Monroe has BPAN (Beta-Propeller Protein-Associated Neurodegeneration), a rare, inherited X-linked neurodegenerative disorder that causes iron to build up in the brain. BPAN is progressive, life-altering, and currently has no cure. Monroe is the first and only known case in Arkansas, which has made our journey both isolating and powerful.
While BPAN brings many challenges, it does not define Monroe. She is strong, sweet, full of personality, and constantly teaching us what resilience and joy truly look like. Easterseals has given Monroe a supportive and inclusive place where she is celebrated for who she is, not just for her diagnosis.
We are incredibly grateful for the love, patience, and care she receives every day and for the chance to raise awareness for rare diseases through moments like this. Tonight, Monroe walks not just for fashion, but for hope, visibility, and all the rare and beautiful children like her.
