2026 Fund-a-Need: Nursing Office Upgrades Across Campuses

Every day, our school nurses care for students who are sick, injured, anxious, or simply need a moment to reset. Their offices are safe havens-and we need to make sure they're equipped to meet every student's needs.

This year's Fund-a-Need will upgrade nursing offices across all campuses, ensuring safe, modern, fully equipped care spaces for every student.

Our immediate goal is $30,000-with a total need closer to $40,000. With your support, we will prioritize:

Vision Screening Technology: 3 SPOT Vision Screeners ($8,500 each)

Secure Medication Storage: 3 Medication Cabinets with bins and shelves ($1,328 each)

Confidential Records Protection: 4 Locking File Cabinets ($330 each)

Your Fund-a-Need gift is an investment in student health, safety, and the ability to learn without barriers.

These upgrades are essential, not optional. They directly impact student health, safety, and readiness to learn.

And if we exceed our goal? We go even further!

Additional funds will expand emergency preparedness and student support with bleeding control kits, Stop the Bleed training materials, tourniquets, and choking rescue devices-along with upgraded recovery spaces, lighting, storage, and privacy features like blinds and bathroom cabinetry.

Every dollar beyond $30,000 strengthens the level of care we can provide-making our nursing offices not just functional, but truly student-centered spaces.

For more than 27 years, Académie Lafayette has been opening doors to the world for Kansas City's students through immersive language and cultural education. As Missouri's first free public charter school-and one of the top public schools in the greater KC area-we are proud to make a high-quality, globally focused education accessible to all.

Saint Louis University is the Public Charter School Sponsor for Académie Lafayette. In granting to a school board of trustees a charter to operate a school, the sponsor helps determine the academic and related performance standards by which the charter school will be measured. Sponsors also help establish the assessment methods to be employed to determine compliance with all facets of the governing charter contract. Accordingly, sponsoring institutions have the legal authority and responsibility to demand, and offer professional support for, improvement in any facet of school operation; ultimately, a sponsor can revoke a school's charter, closing down a school that does not meet the requirements of the charter.
