What is the Purse Party?

The Purse Party is an evening of community and fundraising at the brand new Museum of Redlands, where friends raise funds through silent and live purse auctions to benefit the educational and community engagement programs of the Redlands Symphony. It's a fun night for a great cause!

What are the Symphony's educational and community outreach programs?

Funds raised at the Purse Party benefit these programs:

• OrKIDstra: Our flagship educational program, OrKIDstra provides free concerts to 4th and 5th graders in Redlands and Yucaipa-Calimesa school districts, complete with classroom curriculum and activities to link music with other academic subjects, promoting cross-disciplinary learning and music appreciation. Funds are needed to provide bussing, paying for the orchestra, and creating the curriculum and activities (both in print and online).
• OrKIDstra TO GO!: Meeting students where they are, OrKIDstra TO GO! brings small groups of musicians into RUSD and YCJUSD elementary schools from grades K-5 to perform themed concerts that link academic subjects through music. Funds are needed to provide musicians and transportation to schools.
• SoundCare: Music is a great source of emotional healing and to that end the Redlands Symphony is partnering with Redlands Community Hospital to bring calm, soothing music to patients and their families throughout the year in different spaces at RCH. Funding supports the training of musicians for healthy programming, cost of musicians to perform, and security clearances for volunteers and musicians to be able to execute the program at the hospital.
  

How does bidding on a purse help bring music to kids and families in our community?

Every dollar we are able to raise through tickets, sponsorships, and winning bids is reinvested into the planning, performance, and administration of these programs. OrKIDstra is an investment in our community of approximately $65,000 as we bus students to the Memorial Chapel annually at no cost, ensuring every child has access to live music. OrKIDstra TO GO is an investment in our community of approximately $20,000 as we take some of Southern California's best musicians into our schools to inspire, educate, and enrich the lives of K-5 students across the Eastern Inland Empire. SoundCare is an investment of approximately $10,000 into our community as we pay for professional musicians to undergo training and prepare programs to bring comfort and calm to patients and families going through medical journeys right here in Redlands.
