Join Del-Mar-Va Council in honoring local individuals, each of whom in his or her everyday life and actions demonstrates one of the Scouting values at the highest level. These values are Duty to God, Duty to Country, and Duty to Community.

Recognitions of these leaders provides our community, and especially Scouts and other youth on the Delmarva peninsula, with an exemplary role model for service.

This free event will include a lunch, an award presentation with remarks from our honorees, and information about Scouting in the local area.

Duty to God Honorees
Reverand Mark & Felicia Thompson

Throughout their marriage, Mark and Felicia have remained deeply committed to ministry and community outreach. Together, they have been involved in numerous initiatives that support those in need. 
For over 11 years, Mark and Felicia have led the Adopt-A-Block Outreach Ministry in Salisbury, a program they founded to serve underprivileged communities. In addition to their outreach work, Mark and Felicia serve as small group leaders at Emmanuel Salisbury Church, where they lead Bible studies using an expository teaching method.


Duty to Country Honoree

Jake Day, Maryland Secretary of Housing and Community Development

Secretary Jake Day leads the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and serves as a member of Governor Wes Moore's Cabinet. Secretary Day is the Governor's senior advisor on housing and place-based economic development and Chief Executive Officer of the State's housing finance agency. Prior to his nomination to lead the Department, Secretary Day served as the 28th Mayor of Salisbury, Maryland. A U.S. Army Major, Secretary Day is currently assigned to US Army Special Operations Command as a member of the Maryland Army National Guard's Special Operations Detachment-NATO and NATO Special Operations Forces Command.


Duty to Community Honoree
Mike Dunn - President/CEO, Greater Salisbury Committee
 

Before joining the Greater Salisbury Committee, Mike Dunn founded Red White and BOOM. He is also the former President of the Salisbury City Council. He has served on multiple boards of distinguished organizations in the area. Mike is a current member of the Perdue School of Business Executive Advisory Council and of the Board of Wyatt's Warriors Foundation. He lives in Salisbury with his wife, Karen. Mike is a Jefferson Award Winner in 2015.
