Over two years ago, I began a 4-foot oil painting of Master Sergeant (Ret.) Kevin Holland. From the start, I knew I didn't just want to create a likeness-I wanted to capture Kevin as he truly was during his years of service. He was kind enough to share photos from his time in the field, and those images became the foundation for this piece.

In the early 1990s, Kevin worked with master blade smith Daniel Winkler of Winkler Knives to design a custom axe-one that he carried on every single one of his 14 deployments, whether with the Navy or the Army. That very same axe appears in this painting, not just as a weapon, but as a symbol of his journey and the life he lived in service to our country.

Kevin's story is remarkable. He is the only person in U.S. history to have served in both SEAL Team 6 and Delta Force. His career is defined by courage, sacrifice, and an uncompromising devotion to his teammates and mission.

This portrait is part of a military painting series that benefits The Light Foundation. It has been an honor to work on, and I'm grateful to Kevin for trusting me to share a piece of his story.
