Locked In Fur Love: Skylar & Maya's Place Spreading Love for Shelter Pets
At Maya's Place, love and care for animals are at the heart of everything we do. Skylar, the passionate owner of Maya's Place, has dedicated her life to ensuring that pets in need receive the care, training, and love they deserve. That's why this Valentine's Day, she is excited to support Locked In Fur Love, a heartfelt fundraiser dedicated to helping shelter pets find their forever homes.
When asked what inspired her to participate, Skylar's answer was simple: every pet deserves a chance.
"I'm super proactive in our community when it comes to helping homeless pets and making sure they get new, loving homes," Skylar shares. "When I heard about this opportunity, I was thrilled to be a part of it. This is our chance to raise funds for medical care, food, and other essential needs for these animals who need us the most."
One particular shelter dog, Rose, has especially touched Skylar's heart. Rose has been at the shelter longer than most, but despite her challenges, she remains full of love and hope.
"I love Rose. She's my girl. I see the staff take her to the yard, let her run around, and just love on her. She's been through so much, yet she's still happy and waiting for her perfect person. I really hope this fundraiser helps her and so many others like her."
Skylar's hope for Locked In Fur Love is to not only raise funds but to inspire others to give back and support their local shelters.
"This is about spreading love-not just on Valentine's Day, but every day. When you donate, you're giving these pets a second chance at life, a chance to find their forever home. It's a way to share the love with those who need it most."
Skylar's passion for pet rescue is deeply rooted in her journey with Maya's Place, which she and her husband, Michael, created in honor of their beloved dog, Maya. Over the past decade, Skylar has worked in and operated multiple pet care facilities across Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. No matter where life took them, Maya was always by her side-coming to work, greeting clients, and testing out new treats. Sadly, in October 2021, Maya suffered an unexpected medical emergency and passed away. Her favorite pastime was chasing her blue ball, a toy she had since the day Skylar adopted her. Now, every happy pet at Maya's Place honors her memory, ensuring her legacy of love and care continues.
This Valentine's Day, you can make a difference, too. Join Skylar and Maya's Place in showering shelter pets with love. Donate, spread the word, and help us give these pets the second chance they deserve.
Let's come together and show just how much we care.
