Alice Ginsburg (nee Kaufman), born in 1930 in Munkacs, Czechoslovakia, was a young girl when the Nazis invaded in 1944. Her family was deported to Auschwitz, where she was separated from her mother and many of her family members. After enduring forced labor in multiple camps, Alice was liberated by the Russian Army in 1945. She was reunited with her father and brother in Budapest before eventually immigrating to the United States in 1947. Alice is now part of the Museum's Speakers Bureau, where she shares her powerful story to remind us of the importance of remembrance and the need to combat hatred.

The Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust is New York's contribution to the global responsibility to Never Forget and a memorial to the six million Jews who were killed during the Holocaust. We are a place of memory and education, where the unforgettable stories of Survivors are kept alive for future generations. Since opening our doors in 1997, we have educated over two million visitors-including tens of thousands of students a year-about the lessons of the Holocaust and the dangers of where hate and bigotry can lead. For over two decades, the Museum has worked to protect the historical record and deepen the public's understanding of Jewish history and heritage through our exhibitions, permanent collection, and programs that reach audiences around the world.
