Valley Presbyterian Foundation 2025 - Jewel in the Desert

As you travel west toward Camelback Mountain, its rounded peak just beginning to obscure the late afternoon sun, multicolored light suddenly grabs your attention. The reflection hits you in blues and yellows, purples and pinks that are distinct but blend into one another. It's stained glass, and it looks like the light is holding the whole structure together, some kind of spectacular lighthouse that demands you notice it, but is interested in telling you a story. You go inside. The story of Creation unfolds around you, but you can't look at it all at once; you are quite literally enveloped by the flicker of the cosmos, the flash of the first stars, the finality of the Cross, right there in front.

Designed by NASA space artist Robert McCall and his artist wife Louise McCall, the Chapel is an oasis, an outpost, a marker. It's a Jewel in the Desert. VPC's Chapel is a one-of-a-kind space, built for weddings and memorials, for prayers and contemplation. The Creation of the Universe stained glass is a marvel of detail and grandeur. At this year's Valley Presbyterian Foundation Dinner and Auction, we will raise much-needed funding to continue the Chapel's journey from the beginning of creation into the future.
