The Friendswood Jr. High School Robotics Program is requesting funding in the amount of $499 for the purchase of the VEXcode VR system from VEX Robotics. This purchase will enable us to provide access to cutting-edge, online robotics programming tools to every student enrolled in Robotics A, Robotics B, and the extra-curricular Robotics Club, impacting an estimated 220 students across these programs. This investment aligns with our commitment to fostering students' authentic learning in the classroom. The VEXcode VR system will challenge students' computational thinking, problem-solving skills, and understanding of real-world applications of technology in a collaborative, hands-on learning environment.
The VEXcode VR system will serve as a critical tool in empowering our students to develop computer coding skills in a virtual, immersive space, simulating real-world robotics challenges. It will allow students to practice coding without the limitations of physical robots. This will allow students to learn programming skills with instant, actionable feedback. Virtual reality robots will speed up the student's understanding of basic and complex computer coding. This time-saving program helps students build a strong foundation in more advanced coding, preparing them to successfully work with our hands-on physical robots. This will expand our capacity to provide consistent, high-quality robotics education, both in the classroom and during after-school club meetings
