This grant will help create a kinesthetic math environment where students solve math problems through physical movement on specially designed floor mats. Each mat is equipped with math-based prompts, grids, number lines, or shapes that allow students to jump, step, or move into different positions as they solve equations, practice counting, work with geometry, or engage in number patterns. This approach blends physical activity with learning, helping students internalize math concepts through embodied movement.
The program aims to support diverse learning styles by giving students an opportunity to understand abstract math ideas in a hands-on, active way. Using movement mats, students will reinforce concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, and spatial awareness while building physical coordination and teamwork skills. This grant will provide mats for classroom use, enabling teachers to create engaging, active math sessions that make math both fun and memorable. The result is a dynamic learning environment where students are energized, engaged, and more connected to the math concepts they are learning.
