This grant will fund the ClassBank “store:” a classroom store designed to teach our fifth-grade students financial literacy, responsibility, and provide positive behavior reinforcement. Through ClassBank, students earn currency by meeting classroom expectations, completing jobs, and showing acts of kindness.

Students balance their accounts and make purchases from the class store once a week. Items they may purchase include snack treats, bouncy balls, special pens, bracelets, and unique experiences like “lunch with a friend” or “Shoes off in Class Day.” They also have the opportunity to place their earnings in a “Savings Account” to earn interest.

ClassBank encourages students to set goals, budget, and make decisions on spending versus saving, providing real-world skills in a fun and engaging environment. The class store reinforces good behavior, responsibility, attendance, and a strong work ethic. Additionally, the rewards create a positive classroom culture and motivate students to contribute actively to their learning community.

By providing resources for ClassBank, this grant enhances authentic learning, strengthens social-emotional skills, and empowers students with a foundation in financial literacy that will benefit them beyond the classroom.
