Help my Band students!
Any AmountTeacher: Ryan Rosete
School: Hanover Jr Sn High School
District: Hanover
District Website: https://www.hanoverhornets.org
School Address: 17050 S Peyton Hwy Colorado Springs, CO 80928 United States
Grade Level: 7th-12th Band and Choir
Region: Southeast
Project Title: Help my Band students!
Category: Music, Journalism and the Arts
Amount Requested: $5000
Project Description:
Hanover is located about 12 miles southeast outside of Fountain, CO. We are a 1A small school with about 140 students in grades 7th-12th. From my understanding, a lot of the community we serve falls below the poverty line. I am requesting these funds because the band program is severely underfunded and neglected. There are 40 students enrolled in music, with instruments that are barely in playable condition. These 40 students take such good care of the instruments they have, and I do my best to maintain what the school has. I'd be looking at funding some clarinets, flutes, and saxophones. Student-grade instruments, and potentially with some funds left over, could also help purchase method books and sheet music. I hope we are considered!
Project Justification:
I believe music is a great outlet for students, and a powerful way for them to express themselves. The students here love music and particularly enjoy band, but we struggle with keeping a long-term music educator. The biggest community event is the art and music showcase that we put on twice a year, and the community really appreciates the work we put into the arts. Unfortunately, the arts cannot compete with the rising costs of repairs and maintenance of band instruments. Our district allocates money for a yearly band budget, and from my understanding, it's only a thousand dollars. We run through that money fast with piano tuning, reeds and supplies, and maintenance and repairs of the instruments we have.
Budget Breakdown:
- Two student clarinets at $200 each
- Two student flutes at $300 each
- Two alto saxophones at $400 each
- Leftover funds for sheet music from JW Pepper or etude/method books

Category: Music, Journalism and the Arts
Funding Amount Requested: $2000
Project Description:
Tim Baird is requesting funds to help repair and maintain instruments in the band program at Ellicott Middle and High School. Many of the instruments require maintenance, such as woodwind re-padding, brass overhauls, and percussion head replacements. The funds will also be used to purchase additional instruments as the program grows and to buy sheet music and necessary supplies like reeds, oils, and greases. These improvements will allow more students to participate in the band, expanding their music education and helping them develop both soft skills like teamwork and critical thinking abilities.

Impact:
The repairs and additional instruments will enable more students to participate in the school's band program, creating a greater opportunity for them to engage in music education. Music education fosters important life skills like teamwork, critical thinking, and self-discipline. For many students, having access to instruments provided by the school is the only way they can participate, as purchasing their own instruments is not financially feasible.
Use of Funds:
The funds will be used for the following:
- Woodwind re-padding: $200-$400 per instrument
- Drum head replacements: $60-$100 per head
- Brass instrument repairs: $20 to several hundred dollars depending on the condition
- Purchase of small miscellaneous items like reeds, oils, and greases

Project Title: Full Sized High School Tuba
Category: Music, Journalism and the Arts
Amount Requested: $2,000
Principal: Jesse Walters
School Website: plattecanyonschools.org
Project Description:
Platte Canyon High School in Bailey, CO, is seeking funding to purchase a full-sized concert tuba for its band program. The tuba, known as the bass voice of the band, is crucial for building a strong foundation in music. Currently, the school has no full-sized concert tuba for its high school students, only smaller instruments for middle school and marching band. By acquiring a new tuba, the high school band will be able to provide richer, fuller performances that will benefit both students and the community for years to come.

The "Full Sized High School Tuba" project will provide Platte Canyon High School with a new concert tuba to be used in music classes, concerts, and community events. The tuba will serve as the backbone of the band's sound, elevating performances and helping students develop essential music skills. In addition to being a vital part of the school band, the tuba will be featured in community events such as festivals and concerts, creating lasting memories for both students and audiences.
Budget Narrative:
The requested $2,000 will go toward the purchase of a full-sized concert tuba from Mack Brass or a similar vendor. A new tuba costs approximately $2,295, and any remaining costs will be covered by the school's music budget or additional fundraising efforts such as concession sales and donations.

Grade Level: K-5 Music
Region: Central Mountains
Project Title: School of Rock!
Category: Music, Journalism and the Arts
Amount Requested: $1,100
Project Description:
I have been envisioning a "School of Rock" approach to teaching music, which involves a full rock-band setup that our students can access in music class and performances. My students at GME have shown a strong interest in learning rock band instruments such as guitar, drums, piano, bass guitar, and voice. This in-house PA speaker system would take our students' music education to the next level for years to come. Unfortunately, our budget does not support such a purchase, and we need your help to make this dream a reality for our students!
Impact on Students:
This PA system will elevate the quality of our performances and concerts, giving students a professional-level experience in live sound and band performances. Beyond music, this system would support other events like outdoor graduation ceremonies, field days, the Mother's Day Market, the Momster Mash, and the Daddy-Daughter Dance. It would allow our school to operate independently without having to rely on the district's outdated and highly-demanded PA system.
Budget Breakdown:
The funds will be used entirely to purchase the new PA sound system.

Project Title: Dress for Musical Success
Category: Music, Journalism and the Arts

Project Description:
We are seeking funding to purchase choir uniforms for our students at Merit Academy, located in Woodland Park, Colorado. We believe that choir is more than just singing - it fosters teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence. Having matching uniforms will not only create a sense of unity and pride among our students but will also help them feel more professional and confident during performances.
Many of our students come from families who may not be able to afford choir uniforms, and we want to ensure that no student feels excluded. With your support, we can outfit our choir and give each student the opportunity to shine, feeling proud of the ensemble they're a part of. This project will empower our students to take their performances to the next level and represent our school with pride.
Use of Funds:
The purpose of this project is to foster a sense of belonging, professionalism, and school pride. Uniforms will not only visually unify our choir but also enhance the students' sense of commitment and dedication to their performances. By providing each student with a uniform, we eliminate any economic barriers that may prevent them from fully participating in choir events, ensuring all students are represented equally.
The intended outcome of this project is to empower our students with the confidence they need to shine in their performances. Music education is more than just learning notes and rhythms-it is about teamwork, self-expression, and discipline. These uniforms will serve as a symbol of their hard work and commitment to both their art and each other. Choir students, whether new or experienced, will have the opportunity to present themselves as proud ambassadors of our school.
Our students come from various backgrounds, and this shared experience of being part of a uniformed group will help to bridge social and economic gaps. By showing up to each concert in professional attire, the students will feel more confident and will be better equipped to give their best performances. With your support, we can make sure that every student feels included, proud, and prepared to represent our community in the best way possible.

A Symphony Adventure
Any AmountTeacher: Tiffany Basnett

District: Woodland Park School District RE-2
District Website: Merit Academy
School Address: 500 E Kelly's Rd, Woodland Park, CO 80863
Grade Level: K-5 music, department chair
Region: Central Mountains
Project Title: "A Symphony Adventure"
Category: Music, Journalism and the Arts
Amount Requested: $1,700
Project Description:
I am seeking funding to take my 3rd-5th grade music students to experience a live symphony performance in Colorado Springs. Our school, located in the small mountain town of Woodland Park, has grown rapidly from 120 students to over 500 in just four years, providing a much-needed choice option for local families. Unfortunately, as we continue to grow, we've recently faced significant funding cuts, and I have not had the resources in past years to cover the costs of busses and tickets for this type of field trip.
In Woodland Park, we lack access to large cultural events like those available in Colorado Springs, where the symphony performance will take place. Many of my students have never had the opportunity to attend such a performance, and this trip would have a profound impact, helping to cultivate a deeper appreciation for music and the arts.
As their music teacher, I've used a significant amount of my own personal funds to provide as many enriching experiences as possible for my students. However, I need additional support to offer them the chance to witness live orchestral music, which could inspire them and deepen their understanding of the music we explore in class. Your support would empower these students, many from rural backgrounds, with an experience that could leave a lasting impression on their musical education.
Use of Funds:
The funds will be specifically used for transportation to and from Colorado Springs as well as tickets for each student and staff members.

Help Us Repair Instruments!
Any AmountTeacher: Benjamin Corneliusen
School: Eaton High School, Eaton School District RE-2
Town: Eaton, CO
Region: Northeast Colorado
Grade Level: High School Band
Project Title: Help Us Repair Instruments!
Category: Music, Journalism and the Arts
Amount Requested: $2,000
Principal: Jessica Grable
School Website: eaton.k12.co.us
Project Description:
Benjamin Corneliusen, the High School Band teacher at Eaton High School in Eaton, CO, is seeking funding to repair and restore several band instruments. For many high school students, the band is one of the few places where they feel they can truly express themselves. However, many of the instruments in our growing band program are broken or in disrepair, preventing students from fully participating and growing in their musical abilities. With repair costs for larger instruments like percussion and low brass ranging from $500 to $5,000, we need your help to ensure that students are given the opportunity to play well-maintained, functional instruments and continue their musical journey.
Project Proposal:
The "Help Us Repair Instruments!" project aims to provide our students with the tools they need to succeed in band. Similar to a car's regular maintenance, band instruments require routine upkeep to remain in working order. Unfortunately, many of our instruments have aged or become damaged due to regular use, which hinders our students' ability to perform and progress. These funds will be used to repair key instruments like bass clarinets, tubas, and vibraphones, giving students the chance to play instruments that function properly, sound great, and foster a lifelong love for music. Your support will directly impact the students and allow them to grow as musicians and individuals.
Budget Narrative:
- Bass Clarinet Repair ($564): Disassemble, clean, replace pads, align keys, regulate, and playtest.
- Trombone Repair ($193): Ultrasonic cleaning, bore repair, slide repair, and playtest.
- Tuba Repair ($933): Multiple slide repairs, dent rolls, valve alignment, and playtest.
- Vibraphone Repair ($350): Replace key, adjust pedal mechanism, motor check, and restring.

Get some Guitars!
Any AmountTeacher: Thomas Neil
School: Delta High School
District: Delta County
District Website: https://dhs.deltaschools.com/en-US
School Address: 1400 Pioneer Rd Delta CO 81416
Grade Level: 6-12 choir and guitar
Region: Southwest
Project Title: Get some Guitars!
Category: Music, Journalism and the Arts
Amount Requested: $1,200
Project Description:
I teach in Delta, Colorado, and I am requesting funds to get some guitars for our high school guitar class. We just started a guitar class to reach a group of students who tend to float under the radar of traditional music classes, and as an experienced guitarist, I really enjoy getting to work with these students. We need a few more guitars to make sure every student has access to a quality instrument, and with these guitars, we plan on playing in the community and giving back to Delta County.
Proposal:
Guitar class is designed for students who love music but may not be interested in signing up for choir or band classes. While choir and band are both great, guitar offers something different, and the idea is to provide students a reason to come to school besides just slipping in unnoticed. I currently have about twenty students involved, and this is in a school undergoing major construction. With so much happening outside of school, keeping students engaged can be challenging. However, these kids show up every day to 1st hour ready to learn. Some of them have their own guitars, but many of them are in rough condition and not really playable. That's why we need to assemble a decent class set of guitars for students to pick from.
Budget Breakdown:
Each new guitar costs $200, and $1,000 will be spent on purchasing 5 new guitars. The remaining $200 will be used to purchase extra sets of strings, stands, and soft cases to protect the guitars and ensure they are viable long term.
