"Mt. Rainier from Snoqualmie" Painting
This Mt. Rainier scene was painted in Western Washington while on a drive through the Snoqualmie Valley, near Carnation. The watercolor is approximately 11"x15" unframed.
Artist Peggy Haug has been volunteering at Holden since 1990 and served two years as full-time staff in 2005. During that time, she created the Holden Nature Journals, based on weekly postings of the birds and wildflowers noted around the village. She has been painting watercolor landscapes for 60 years, having grown up in a family of artists. In fact, she is the grand-daughter of American watercolorist Charles Burchfield. Her love of nature is evident in her fresh paintings, which are always painted plein air (on location, lit. "in the open air")--even in the winter!
