You can still participate in the auction!SteelCityAuction.com hosts online auctions in the Pittsburgh area. Place your bids on local products, services and experiences starting at just 20% retail value. A portion of the proceeds benefits local nonprofits.
Extended Bidding Period: This auction utilizes an automatic extended bidding period. The extended bidding period is initiated once the auction countdown is below 60 seconds. During the extended bidding period, all new bids will reset the auction countdown to 60 seconds. The auction will end when no new bids are entered for a full 60 seconds. This functions the same as a live auctioneer saying "going once, going twice?". This is a preventative measure for auction sniping.
Auto-bidding: Users will have the option to place a maximum bid for each item and allow the system to "auto bid" for you. With an auto bid, our system will place your bid at the minimum amount needed to lead. When you are outbid, our system will bid automatically for you until your maximum is reached. Users with a mobile number will automatically receive a text message when they have been outbid at their maximum bid amount. This is a preventative measure for auction sniping.
*Auto-bids act the same way as traditional bids during the extended bidding period, meaning an auto bid during the last 60 seconds of the auction will reset the auction timer. The auto bids will continue to be placed until the maximum bid price is reached or until no new bids are placed for a full 60 seconds.

Benefiting: Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
Food is a basic human need, yet every day thousands of our neighbors struggle to have enough food on their plates.
At Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, we work to ensure that anyone who needs a healthy meal can get one.
Whether you need help or you can give help, by joining our network you can help us ensure that all of our neighbors have enough food for today, tomorrow and a lifetime.
In 2000, the Food Bank opened the doors on its facility in Duquesne. This facility was the first LEED-certified building in Pittsburgh and the first LEED-certified food bank in the nation. Learn more about that facility here.
Today, we work with a network of more than 1,000+ partners across the 11 counties we serve. In addition to sourcing, warehousing and distributing food, the Food Bank is actively engaged in stabilizing lives and confronting issues of chronic hunger, poor nutrition and health. And, through our advocacy efforts, we have become a primary driver in comprehensive anti-hunger endeavors regionally, statewide and at the national level.
