CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY ON WALKWAY OVER THE HUDSON
This Independence Day, Friends of the Walkway invites the community to experience the City of Poughkeepsie 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular from the world's longest elevated pedestrian bridge, perched 212 feet above the Hudson River at eye level to the dazzling display before you.
On Friday, July 4 at 6 p.m., Walkway Over the Hudson will open exclusively to ticket holders offering panoramic twilight views and an unforgettable perspective on the professional fireworks show launching between 9-9:30 p.m.
Proceeds from ticket sales support Friends of the Walkway and are reinvested to realize our strategic vision to create meaningful, on-the-ground experiences for every person who steps into the park.
Friends of the Walkway is a proud sponsor of the City of Poughkeepsie's annual fireworks.
Space is strictly limited at this event and tickets required for all attendees. Children 12 and under are free but must reserve a ticket online in advance for admittance.
Tickets sell out every year and will not be available for purchase on-site during the event.

There are no physical tickets for this event - your ticket is your emailed receipt of purchase.
Attendees must present their proof of purchase upon arrival. This can be digital (on your phone) or printed.
All ticket sales are final. If the event is postponed or rescheduled, tickets will be honored for the July 5 rain date.

EVENT TIMELINE
4 p.m. - Walkway closes to the public for event setup and safety preparations
6 p.m. - Walkway re-opens to ticketholders
9 - 9:30 p.m. - Fireworks show begins
*The Walkway closes immediately after the conclusion of the fireworks show.
In the event of rain, the fireworks will launch on Saturday, July 5. Alerts will be posted online at walkway.org and the Walkway's social media networks.
PARKING
Parking near the Walkway is extremely limited. Please allow ample time to arrive and follow posted signage and the instructions of law enforcement officers. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.
EAST SIDE PARKING (Poughkeepsie - Dutchess County)

*Parking is free in City municipal lots beginning at 5 p.m. and in metered spaces on-street after 6 p.m.
WEST SIDE PARKING (Highland - Ulster County)

*The Town of Lloyd charges for all non-handicapped parking along Haviland Road and in the Rail Trail Parking Lot. Follow posted signage.
**The Town of Lloyd Police Department will close Haviland Road when at capacity.
HANDICAPPED PARKING
Guests needing handicapped parking should park on the West (Highland) side of the Walkway. The handicapped parking is approximately 0.3 miles from the nearest fireworks viewing area. No stairs are required to access the bridge, and the pathway from the parking lot to the Walkway is mostly flat and fully paved. There is no transportation available from the parking lot to the Walkway.
WHAT TO KNOW IF YOU'RE ATTENDING
FOOD & DRINK
Food and beverage concessions will be available onsite.
Guests are permitted to bring their own food and beverages and may bring small personal coolers. Bags and coolers may be subject to inspection. Prohibited items must be removed by the owner prior to entry.
NO GLASS - Including all glass containers for food, beverages, and baby food/bottles. Items in glass containers must be repackaged into non-glass containers prior to entry.
Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park a is smoke and alcohol-free facility.
The Walkway is a carry-in, carry-out park. Please deposit all waste in an appropriate container or bring it with you.
RULES & REGULATIONS
NO PETS. This event is not pet-friendly. Loud fireworks, unfamiliar places, and large crowds can be overwhelming for pets.
NO BIKES, SKATES, SKATEBOARDS, SCOOTERS, HOVERBOARDS, OR SIMILAR PRODUCTS.
NO DRONES. Drones may not be flown at or over this event unless permitted in advance.
NO FIREARMS
NO FIREWORKS. This includes all types of sparkling devices and poppers.
NO TENTS. Attendees may bring chairs, blankets, and small wagons for transportation.
ACCESSIBILITY
Walkway's elevator at Upper Landing Park is closed during this event. Walkway's electric tram will not be in operation. As the entire bridge and all fireworks viewing areas are accessible, there is no designated wheelchair seating. Accessible indoor restrooms are available at the Ulster Welcome Center in Highland and the Dutchess Welcome Center in Poughkeepsie, both located a short distance from handicapped parking. Once on the Walkway, only portable restroom facilities are available.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Seating may be set up on the south side of the Walkway in designated viewing sections only. Seating is not provided on the Walkway.
Please set up any photographic tripods away from congested areas.
There will be NO ELEVATOR ACCESS during this event.
Indoor restrooms are located at the Welcome Centers on both sides of the bridge. Portable facilities will be available on the bridge.
The Walkway closes immediately after the fireworks end.
