This beautiful blue-and-white quilt is a piece of living history.
The quilt top was originally assembled during World War II by Kathryn Windborn of What Cheer, Iowa, while she awaited her husband's return from overseas.
The quilt tops were carefully preserved in a cedar chest for over 60 years. In 2007, they were purchased and lovingly completed by Andi Feyen, who finished this quilt entirely by hand in 2010. Every stitch-over 120,000 in total-was hand sewn, showcasing extraordinary craftsmanship and dedication.
Made of all cotton (including batting) and sized for a twin bed, this quilt features intricate hand quilting and a classic push-pull stitching technique, making the reverse side just as beautiful as the front.
This quilt is perfect for collectors, history enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates quilting as both an art form and a story passed through generations.
While the photos offer a glimpse, they don't come close to capturing the incredible detail, texture, and presence of this quilt. The hand stitching and craftsmanship must be seen in person to be fully appreciated.
