At Susan G. Komen, our mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our community and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer. In Chicago, there exists a large disparity between treatment and survivorship. Since 2011, breast cancer mortality is 44 percent higher in African-American women compared to Caucasian women and African-American and Latina women are more likely to be diagnosed with last-stage cancer than Caucasian women. We ask your support to help us to achieve improving breast healthcare for all women in Chicagoland.

For our 20th Anniversary event, Komen Chicago will celebrate individuals who have BRIDGED THE GAP with the Chicagoland community by helping:

  • Even the playing field for those women in our community who do not have the resources and access to optimal treatment
  • Fund and conduct global breast cancer research
  • Education and navigation about metastatic breast cancer and the options available

Our gala co-chairs this year will be Marcy and Katie Twardak. Among the celebrities, Mario Lopez, Two-Time Emmy Winner, Host of Extra and VIPs, planning to attend will be Komen Founder, Ambassador Nancy Brinker and her son, Eric Brinker as well as Dr. Robert Winn, Director of UIC Cancer Center & Elena M. Kamel, M.D. We will be honoring, exceptional Chicagoans who lead the fight to ensure quality healthcare for all and who seek to find the cure for this devastating disease. In addition, the evening will celebrate breast cancer survivors and memorialize those that have been lost.

Prior to the dinner, there will be a special VIP reception and bridge lighting for the honorees and special invited guests including our 20 More Than Pink Heroes.
