Preserve Historical Southport
Did you know that The Southport School's main school building is the former Pequot School, on the same site where Southport's elementary school and community center have stood since 1854?
The current brick building replaced the wooden Pequot School in 1918, one of only a few institutional buildings erected in the Southport area during the early twentieth century. The Pequot School closed in 1972 and, after some time and the threat of development, was acquired by The Southport Conservancy, ensuring its preservation as a cherished landmark, school, and cornerstone of Southport's historic village.
Since 1984, The Southport Conservancy has entrusted The Southport School to maintain this historic building where generations of children have spent their days learning under our stunning cupola and green tile roof. Your support of our Raise the Roof campaign will help repair and preserve the roof with a commitment to historic integrity and craftsmanship.
It is an honor to have The Southport Conservancy's full support of this restoration project. We hope that you too will support this campaign and help us to Raise the Roof, ensuring it shelters future learners for years to come.
Thank you.
