Title: BlackCat

Materials: Willow

Dimensions: 28" W x 10" H

Description of the Piece: This basket is an encapsulation of early spring energy. It was woven from freshly cut willow rods that held the possibility of reanimation if they'd been uncoiled and planted. The small black catkins throughout were harvested at their peak, freezing their fuzziness forever. The weave pattern captures a sense of wildness, and showcases the natural bark colors that compliment the catkins.

Artist Bio: Dan Brockett weaves baskets using willow grown on his farm, Foggy Blossom, in Leechburg, PA. As both cultivator and craftsman he has a unique relationship with his material.
