ARTIST BIO:

Marianela Perez is a Venezuelan visual artist who has developed her practice within painting, photography and sculpture. She is a resident Artist at Arts Warehouse Del Ray FL. She studied Commercial Art at the Endicott College, Beverly Massachusetts and environmental design at the Villasmil de Leon Design lnstitute, in Caracas, graduating as Environmental designer, she continued her painting studies under the guidance of renown Venezuelan artists as well as specialized painting classes and applied techniques to acrylic at the Boca Raton Art School. Her training in photography comes from the Roberto Mata School of photography in Caracas. Her photography became a pivot throughout her work, even supporting the abstract- geometric expression.

She has participate in many group exhibitions in Caracas, Miami, Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Saratoga, San Francisco, Nueva York, Londres, Madrid. She has shown her work in solo exhibitions, in Miami and Caracas. In 2019 she did a mural wall for the facade of Curator's Voice Art Proyect in Miami. In 2023 she did her solo show "Lemonade Berry" in Mifa (Miami, Florida). In 2022 she presented her solo Show "The Shape of Color" in Miami Dade College Gallery (Hialeha, Florida). In 2020 she had her solo show in The Spanish River Library (Boca Raton Fl). In 2019 she did her solo show "Geometric Jump" in Hernán Gamboa Gallery Humboldt International University (Coral Gables, Florida). In the Miami art week (BASEL Art Week 2023) show her work at Contex- Art Miami. ( BASEL Art week 2019) show her work in Scope and AQUA. In 2019 and 2020 her work was in Art on Paper New York and Art Palm Beach Fair. In 2020 her work was in Art Fort Lauderdale Fl. In 2023 She participated in "OCHO" a group show in Mifa (Miami Fl). She participate in a virtual group exhibition "Signatures" 2020 (Galeria Espacio 5 Caracas Venezuela) She was in the group show "Lines of expression" 2020 (in Pompano Beach FL). 2020-2021 She was with Espacio Visible's and The Amerant art Program, in a group show held In the Amerant Bank (Coral Gable Fl). In 2021 "Echo" in The Art warehouse Del Ray a group exhibition. She is currently exhibiting in a grup show "Multiple Visions" in Boca Raton Innovation Campus (Boca Raton Fl).

ARTIST STATEMENT:

I am a visual artist.

My work has a lot to do with emotions, changes, memory, ruptures, and the interpretation of my environment. I work from the fracture of the form in space and the use of color as an expressive resource. My artistic evolution goes from gestural painting of spots and colors to my digital work, through the integration of photography as a reference to capture images of the everyday, the urban landscape and nature. I draw, paint, photograph, transform. Sometimes an idea leads to an image and other times a new image can emerge that modifies the work. In this process I discover the freedom to express what I propose.
