"Garden Romp" Acrylic on Canvas
20 x 16 x 1 painting.

American abstract painter, Michelle Marra, describes herself as a "spirited colorist" a perfect expression of the high level of emotion, energy, and luminosity she imbues into her paintings.

Acrylic paint and gestural brush strokes create an interplay of seriousness and whimsy. Organic shapes and lush color relationships in her paintings are grounded in the natural world, evoking images of wildflower gardens and tangled jungle landscapes. Michelle has a clear love for paint along with color and texture.

Michelle's love for art started at an early age. She explored many different mediums, (pastel, watercolor and oils), before settling on acrylics. The immediacy of acrylics and the ability to build thick layers is an important part of her work. In 2017, after surviving a 5-year battle with Chronic Lyme Disease, she decided to make her passion her career.

Michelle has been juried into numerous regional art shows and has collectors world-wide. Her honors include Third Place at the Mystic Museum of Art Juried show, 2016; "The People's Choice Award" at the Coral Springs Art Museum in 2019; a finalist in the Artist Magazine 2020 annual competition and Second Place in Salon de Litchfield 2021 juried show. She has been included in "A Curated Collection of the World's Most Exciting Artists" Artfolio book in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Michelle works from her home studios in Delray Beach, FL, Asheville, NC and Mystic, CT.
