Moira Scully Papp, resident of Elmhurst, IL, cherishes the support and love of her husband Jim, their 3 teenagers, Annie, Claire and James and their 2 dogs, Josephine and Ruth. Moira is an active volunteer at Immaculate Conception Grade School and Parish, Fenwick High School and Misericordia Women's League. Always very active as a water skier, triathlete, runner and Barre.
Ms. Papp was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in November, 2021. Shocked by the diagnosis of a disease that affects 1 in a 1,000,000 people, Moira committed herself to learning as much as possible about the disease. Ms. Papp became intensely interested in the Stiff Person Syndrome Research Foundation, pursuing volunteer opportunities. Moira now serves on the Stiff Person Syndrome Research Foundation Registry Committee (both Steering and working), Patient Advisory Committee and The 2024 Symposium Committee. Her involvement with SPSRF has led to significant advancement for the foundation. Together with her team, Moira is working tirelessly to host the inaugural SPSRF fundraiser, raising funds to support the foundation's mission; Moira's Mission.
Despite being reshaped by the challenges of Stiff Person Syndrome, Moira remains a resilient and optimistic individual. Constantly advocating and encouraging others affected by this disease, she is spreading the word about awareness and education.
Moira's family continues to be the priority as she moves forward with her changing landscape, with this very rare disease. She and her extended family are hoping, praying and working toward a cure.
