"Sailboat Haven" by the late Fred Brockmann, Equality Florida's 2018 Voice for Equality Honoree along with wife Lee Brockmann
After his retirement from a career in education as high school English/journalism teacher, coach, and superintendent of schools in Connecticut and New York, Fred Brockmann studied watercolor at the Guilford Handcrafts Center in Connecticut and at Sarasota's Ringling School of Srt. He was a juried member of the Guildford Art League, chair of the Madison Art Society, and member of the Lyme Art Association and Sarasota's Visual Aarts Society.
Always an advocate for children, he headed the Peace and Justice Network at the First Congregational UCC in Sarasota for almost 10 years. He worked with Sarasota United for Reliability and Equity in their quest for equal rights and respect for marginalized students for about 10 years as well until the pandemic in 2020. A proud and active member and supporter of Equality Florida, Fred Brockmann died in 2022 at age 92.
Fred's dear wife Lee graciously donated this piece, one of Fred's trove of watercolor masterpieces.
