The winner of this package will take Fido (Bodhi) home! Handmade by Ceramic Sculptor Scott Causey, Bondhi is a colorful work of art standing at 19"x10"x16".
THE PROCESS:
The artist employs a technique involving the construction of a sturdy framework using tin foil, vermiculite, and masking tape to form a skeleton. This armature serves as the foundation for the sculpture, which is then covered with white earthenware. The sculpting of the animal's features follows this stage. Once the sculpture reaches a leather-hard state, it is cut in half, and the entire armature is removed. The two halves are meticulously rejoined and subjected to a bisque firing process lasting 1 to 3 weeks.
Afterward, the animal is intentionally broken into pieces using a wooden hammer handle. Each piece is individually glazed and fired. Some pieces undergo a second firing with lusters or an additional layer of glaze in a different color to enhance depth and design. Upon completion of the firing process, the artist utilizes a paste epoxy to reconstruct the animal, resulting in the final, completed product.
