Our Mission

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Westchester & Putnam is a donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring organization, making meaningful, professionally supported matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles") ages 7 through young adulthood in our community. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people, helping them realize their potential and build their futures. We nurture children and strengthen communities, and we couldn't do any of it without you.

2023 Match of the Year: Mitzi and Myasia

A great mentor is a catalyst; a Big will inspire her Little to see beyond present circumstances to the infinite possibilities available to her - in a sense, to view her potential from 20,000 feet. Well, 17,000 feet to be exact, as Big Mitzi took Little Myasia flying in a Cirrus SR22 4-seater, a truly unforgettable experience for the teen! Together since 2019, Mitzi and Myasia have built a solid friendship based on trust and a shared passion for sports, working out, the outdoors, and the arts. Mitzi's focus with Myasia is education, and over many meals together she's emphasized consistency in attendance, discipline in her study habits, and accountability in her classroom results. "Myasia's such a bright girl," Mitzi says. "It's a joy for me to be beside her as she matures into all her possibilities!"
