Domaine Anderson 2018 Pinot Noir (2 bottles)

93 pts. Vinous:

"The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate is a very pretty wine that melds together the various signatures of the estate vineyards. Savory and deep, with terrific persistence, the Estate naturally does not offer the singularity of the vineyard designates, and yet it is a wonderfully complete wine. Dried herbs, tobacco, cedar, crushed autumn leaves, plum and dark spice fill out the layers effortlessly."

You're probably familiar with the famous sparkling wines from Roederer Estate in the Anderson Valley. That's the parent company of Domaine Anderson, and its tasting room is just up the hill. In keeping with the estate's reputation for high quality wines, their Pinot Noir fits the bill. A blend of 3 vineyards in the Anderson Valley - Pinoli from the western end, Dach from the middle, and Walraven from the eastern end. It's just delightful, with nuances of red fruits, bark spice, black tea and a long finish. An easy-to-drink Pinot, enjoyable with or without food.

Tasting Notes
Medium-dark ruby color. Aromas of fresh red berry, pomegranate and bark spice are complemented with flavors of citrus, black tea and cardamom. A firm acidity with elegant tannins provides the frame for this well-built wine. Savory and long finish on the palate.

Food Pairing
Pairs beautifully with braised meats (osso buco), dishes such as gorgonzola with mushroom risotto, and a variety of cheeses.
