In partnership with Meadows Behavioral Healthcare, where Dr. Perry is a Senior Fellow at The Meadows Adolescent Center, notMYkid is excited bring this educational opportunity to the Arizona community.  Dr. Perry's clinical research has resulted in the development of innovative clinical practices and programs working with children and adolescents, most prominently the Neurosequential ModelĀ©, a developmentally sensitive, neurobiology-informed approach to clinical work, education, and caregiving.  A strong advocate for youth mental health and well-being, he has dedicated much of his research and therapeutic work to this area. Some of his key insights and recommendations include:

 - Emphasizing the importance of attachment and relationships in promoting mental health in children and youth.

- Recognizing that trauma and adversity can lead to long-term effects on the developing brain, and implementing trauma-informed care practices to support youth in their healing process.

- Advocating for policies and practices that prioritize prevention and early intervention in addressing mental health concerns among youth, rather than punitive measures that can exacerbate trauma and stress.

- Encouraging a strengths-based approach that acknowledges the resilience and potential for growth in young people, rather than focusing exclusively on pathology or deficits.

Dr. Perry's work has had a significant global impact on the field of youth mental health, and has encouraged a more holistic and compassionate approach to supporting the well-being of children and youth.
