To provide students with opportunities to be able to functionally communicate within their immediate and corresponding communities.

I would love to provide the Significant Support Needs, (SSN) Affective Needs(AN) and mild to moderate needs programs at Riverview with the supplies needed to become more effective and independent communicators. The skills I would incorporate with these requests would allow the students to acquire independence while incorporating math, language, and functional communication skills. I would like measuring cups for math, food, such as popcorn and cakes to be able to support living skills with an outcome. You measure, follow directions, and an outcome is the result. Lessons that are functional, like we do in Carbondale, Fun Skills Friday Classes. It is hard, yet rewarding to plan for these classes. Ranges from sorting, greeting/how to work in a group to a gratitude cart to pass out healthy snacks/ hygiene(toothbrushes and lint rollers)/water and tea choices to the staff as a lesson. Positive feedback was provided after last year's cart, out of my personal budget. It was worth it and I am ready to do it again. It's always changing in SSN, AN, and Special Education. The ultimate goal is independence, as federal law suggests, and in my opinion, the same for the kids and the family
