Care Closet For Kids

My school is starting a care closet. This will be closets where students are able to get their basic needs met. They have the option of getting toiletries, socks, easy to cook food and more.

Everyday we hear our students talk about how they don't know if mom/dad/grandparent will be able to afford relatively basic items that are needed until they get their paychecks and pay the rent, electricity, etc.

In addition to the hunger, stress, and difficulty with being mentally available for learning seen daily, research shows a lasting long-term effect of these deficits, especially with younger children. Our students from low-income homes are at a much higher risk of falling behind during critical development periods and are less likely to be able to catch up academically and/or emotionally. Your support in helping us meet our student's basic needs would be greatly appreciated. With your help we can purchase basic hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotion, Kleenex, lip balm, soap, deodorant, socks, easy to cook food etc. for our students to meet some of their needs so they don't have to worry about those things and can focus on learning. We will eventually stock the cabinet with food items to meet those needs as well.
